Test the evidence
Say when the current case falls short
Independent judgment includes saying when the evidence does not support a conclusion. You then know what must be answered before committing.
About Mark
After an important technology choice, architecture, suppliers, teams, launch plans, and operations have to support it. Before you rely on outside advice, you should be able to see whether the adviser has carried that kind of responsibility. Mark Barrington’s operating career has spanned those conditions. His advice is grounded in operating responsibility and what it takes to carry a choice through. Barrington Technology is the consulting practice. Mark Barrington, Founder and Principal, leads every engagement. You work with Mark directly from the first question through the agreed work.
Why it matters
Mark has carried responsibility for budgets, supplier contracts, engineering organizations, launches, and live services. His decisions had to withstand budget review, contract terms, test results, and actual operation.
Test the evidence
Independent judgment includes saying when the evidence does not support a conclusion. You then know what must be answered before committing.
Test the delivery conditions
A direction that works on paper can fail where architecture, teams, suppliers, testing, launch, and operations meet. You can test those connections with Mark while there is still time to change the choice.
What this means for you
Before you commit, you can expose weak assumptions that would otherwise surface in a supplier agreement, test result, or launch plan. You can judge the practical consequences while there is still room to respond.
Barrington Technology brings operating experience and independent challenge. The decision stays with you, and ownership remains clear inside your organization.
Career arc
The roles range from engineering digital television systems to leading organizations responsible for bringing products and services to market.
Build the systems
Mark’s early career included digital television R&D at Sony. He later led technical development at ITV Digital and engineering for the MovieBeam consumer service launch. The work covered software, consumer equipment, distribution, and service operations.
Lead the commitments
At Wind River, he led a European professional services business. At ION Media Networks, he was responsible for new products and broadcast spectrum. That experience helps him read a technical plan as a business commitment.
Carry executive responsibility
As co-founder and chief technology officer of Orby TV, Mark carried responsibility from architecture into launch. Through Barrington Technology, he now brings that operating perspective directly to broadcast and media technology decisions and demanding phases of delivery.
Mark holds a BSc (Hons) in Computer Science from the University of York.
That experience matters when your organization must commit to a technology path and live with what follows. It helps your leadership team examine the choice with delivery in view. Your organization should be able to own the path that follows. For examples, review selected experience.
